Not Just Security

The Security industry is a dynamic one. As the Marketing Executive at Northeast Security, I am proud to say that we have done a wonderful job at staying abreast of emerging trends and security improvements and then passing these on to our valued clients through NES designed programs. We recognize that security personnel are not only providing safety in a building, but that they are also representing the image of the ownership and management. Over the years we have designed and implemented various value added initiatives ranging from Advanced Customer Service Training, Advanced Life Safety Training with AED’s, and Evacuation and Emergency Preparedness Procedures and Drills to name a few.

The owners of Northeast Security continued this initiative by starting
Lighthouse Integrators, Inc. Lighthouse is a full service security systems integration company specializing in CCTV, access control, service and maintenance agreements. ID Fraud: New Accounts Most at Risk

According to the last identity fraud survey from Javelin Strategy and Research, losses from new account fraud greatly exceed those associated with other forms of identity fraud. The report also found that new account fraud is much harder to detect. The finding suggests that more consumers and law enforcement agents are looking to bank and credit unions, to create more sophisticated detection and prevention when it comes to I.D fraud. Javelin president, James Van Dyke said, "I think the weight of solving the problem will ultimately fall on the banks, because the criminals go where the money is. Criminals don't make money in identity fraud unless they turn it into cash…That's why it's important for banks to keep up-to-date on all of the types of fraud that are out there."

Cyber Crooks Targeting Smartphones

Mobile device platforms have become the latest and greatest attack point as mobile device security threats rose to new heights in 2010's fourth quarter and will continue into 2011, security researchers said. According to the McAfee Threats Report: Fourth Quarter 2010, a growing number of security threats to mobile platforms are emerging new mobile malware increased by 46 percent from 2009 to 2010. The report notes that as more consumers use mobile devices and tablets for personal use and business, cybercriminals have caught on. McAfee Labs said it has seen a steady increase in the number of mobile device security threats. It appears that Google's Android mobile platform has become a prime target, more so than its mobile OS counterparts from Apple and RIM BlackBerry. Android has bubbled to the top because it has looser restrictions on developing and building applications for the platform.
